Situated on the Eastern side of Europe; a country that’s surrounded by Mediterranean waters and overlooked by ancient castles. I first fell in love with the idea of travelling to Croatia just around the same time that Game of Thrones became a world-wide hit. Thank you and yes I am another GOT fan. After Greece, it was one of those places where for many years I had pictured what it would be like to travel there. Then when I finally did, I was in awe. There was a certain charm that Croatia had, that I just couldn’t seem to put into words. It’s one of those places where you could honestly take a picture of any place or anything and it would look beautiful; no matter what it was, the picture itself was just enough.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to Sail Croatia?
As a traveller you’re forced to get out of your comfort zone and one of the things you’re exposed to is the variety of people, that you wouldn’t normally be able to meet back at home. However as an expat, you feel this every second of every day and having only recently moved to London, I felt this on another level of intensity. For that reason alone I was craving comfort in anything that was familiar to back home and I’m so glad to have done Sail Croatia because it did just that.
Having spent seven of my ten days sailing the coastal line on a boat that was filled with a majority of Aussies and Kiwis was quite comforting. It was my home away from home because I knew that I wasn’t going back to Australia for a while. The bulk of our itinerary I remember was falling asleep tanning on our boat and waking up in a new part of Croatia. Whether it was a swim stop where you could jump off with floaties en route to a new place, arriving in a new Croatian city, partying until the sun came up and optional activities. The feeling of being entirely free to the world was so addictive and refreshing, that it reminded me of why I was there.
As the week went on, I heard countless travel stories from everyone on our boat. All amazing, European summer stories that changed everyone’s lives in some way, of places I had already been to and places I had yet to explore. I felt like the more stories I heard, the longer my travel bucket list grew. Which gave me a bit of anxiety because I already had a pre-conceived notion of the places that I wanted to travel to during my time in London. Now hearing these stories made me feel like that wouldn’t be the case! I guess Europe will always in some way be a part of my travel bucket list.
DUBROVNIK

KRKA WATERFALLS
If anyone who is considering travelling here, I’d highly recommend it. Travelling here was like walking into the gates of another world; so peaceful and serene.
If you decide to go swimming in these waterfalls, make sure to bring footwear that you can wear in the water (only if you can). The footwear isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, but it you will save your feet a lot of pain and a lot of time getting to and from the waterfalls. I mean walking through the water on rocky ground can get quite painful after a while, but whatever you have to do to get that Instagram pic!
Yours sincerely,
